love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of his personality. no one can become fully aware of the very essence of another human being unless he loves him. by his love he is enabled to see the essential traits and features in the beloved person; and even more, he sees that which is potential in him, which is not yet actualized but yet ought to be actualized. furthermore, by his love, the loving person enables the beloved person to actualize these potentialities. by making him aware of what he can be and of what he should become, he makes these potentialities come true.

our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. it is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. we ask ourselves: who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? actually, who are you not to be? you are a child of god. your playing small does not serve the world. there's nothing enlightening about shrinking so that other people won't feel secure around you. we are born to make manifest the glory of god that is in us. it's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. and as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. as we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
