second week of vacation: st. george

wouldn't you take off for a week-long vacation if you could?  thanks to uncle jon erik's prompting (hey, isn't it your 10 year anniversary?...), and generous anniversary present, we stayed in a great resort.  it was so great, we decided to extend that couple-of-days vacation into a week-long vacation!  we spent all of our time checking out st. george itself, to make sure that's really where we wanted to end up with our family.  we didn't even make it to zion national park, the grand canyon, bryce canyon, etc.  there was so much to do in st. george!  and the longer we were there, the more we wanted to stay.  we are seriously hoping to get a transfer call from ups in the near-near-near future!

all packed up and ready to go...good thing our boys love smoothies--it kept them quiet and satisfied for at least the first 30 minutes.  an hour and half into the ride we made a pit stop to let the boys run around and get some lunch, and the station we stopped at actually had a petting zoo with a zebra, camel, emus, donkeys, zebronkeys (yes, zebronkeys...), a peacock, and more!

and right at the 3 1/2 hour mark in the car, the boys started crying--they were done!  good thing we made great time and pulled right into a pizza place for lunch.  welcome st. george sun and happiness!  pace wanted "suh-ghetti" and meatballs, and i think this is the first time he's ever eaten spaghetti!  i've stuck to just short pasta noodles for the boys.  he didn't do too bad!

max had fallen asleep in the car for an hour or so, but pace stayed awake the whole time.  it took this giant cookie to keep this no-nap boy happy...he's perfected the "malocchio" no-sharing stare...

and then the sugar crash...(no, he did not eat the entire cookie...)

after checking in and unloading, we took a short walk up the bluff behind our building to check out the view, and then went grocery shopping with some pretty tired and strung out hyper little boys!  at costco the boys found some soft doggie beds, and i was very tempted to buy them to have happy sleepers that night!  as it was, the second bedroom had two bunk beds, and we pushed them each up against a wall and made little pillow nests for the boys.  they loved it!  we called it their little caves.  they were great sleepers in their caves--i don't know if it was because we were in the building furthest away from the road, so it was quiet, or that our room was right up against the bluff, so the sun never really shone in our windows, or if it was the cave-beds, but we all happily slept in until 730 every morning! now that's a great way to start your vacation!
