we went out to the house twice last weekend. the indian krishna temple in spanish fork is right down the hill and across the valley a little bit from our house (you can see it from our upstairs windows). they have a color festival every year, the last weekend of march. we decided to go down to the house on friday, picking david up from work, in attempt to miss the traffic from the color festival. we were pleasantly surprised to see a roof and windows, the concrete front porch poured and drying, and the first layer of garage floor sealed!! we also discovered the tub and shower inserts in all the bathrooms! the boys excitedly said, "it's our tub!" after running around a bit we had a picnic dinner in the boy's bedroom.
then we decided to head down again sunday...!! we were having our first walk-through check on tuesday, and david would be working, so we wanted to double check some things together. pace's favorite part of visiting our new house is definitely climbing the dirt pile out back. when we finally climb back in the car, pace's first request is, "dump out my shoes!" out pours at least 1/2 cup of dirt and rocks!
(pace was very proud of the bridge he built to cross the dried tar)
this weekend we went down yesterday, and saw a family walking around our house, checking things out. they had two little boys running around in the dirt and pace excitedly shouted, "look! my friends are here to play!" while the boys all ran around together, we talked with the couple and answered lots of questions. they very excitedly left to go talk with the realtor at the model home around the corner, "we might be your neighbors!"--academy park phase 3 is apparently opening up to buy lots and begin building! more neighbors!...and more dirt!
"what is all this pink fluffy stuff?! it's everywhere!"
"mommy, look! pink is in our room, too!"
final concrete top poured in garage!

Are they putting more wrapping than that on the exterior walls? Done that way the windows will leak with driving rains.
Good to see that they are foaming around the windows. But what are they doing to prevent that insulation from slipping down the walls over time? I have DOZENS of thermal images of slipped insulation, happening in the first year.
It's early to seal the garage floor. You might want to finish that later with an epoxy paint. I recommend Redskin colors.
The dirt pile is definitely where I would be. Genetics at work...
My last day in Mom's house I went to Mike's, got a big sub, returned to the house and ate it in my bedroom. LOVE the idea of having a picnic in the bedroom!
My senior year I covered the color festival! As soon as I was done recording they all attacked me with the powder. So fun to be close by.
