timpanogos caves x2

david had the monday off work after his vacation week for a follow up dr's appointment, so we decided to capitalize on it and do the timpanogos caves hike again!  we thought it'd be a pretty quiet morning for hiking and getting tickets for the cave tour would be no problem--and we were right (on the way down we passed 2-3 groups of elementary-school-aged kids, so we luckily missed that tour group!).  it was a nice, cool morning, and the hike went pretty smoothly.  the cave tour was fun, too--although max did not like the part when the tourguide turned off all the lights to show us how dark it was inside the caves!

and then we got home and i decided to turn the whole day into "cave day"--it was "house day" on the calendar, and so we talked about what animals make a house out of a cave, talked about the colors we saw in the cave when the lights were on, and the cave structures.  pace drew stalagmites and stalactites, drapery, and we used popcorn to make coraloids, which looked like popcorn in the cave.

here are a few other random photos:
we took the train up to salt lake again last saturday to walk around city creek mall and temple square; pace learned you can "hear the ocean" in shells; we've had an incredibly humid summer with thunderstorms almost every day--i thought the rainbow was cool; the new "pace-size" table from bishka is a hit!
