papa and ninny visit for fiesta days!

papa and ninny came for a visit and were here just in time for fiesta days!

we had a great time playing at the park and splash pad

and checking out the fair that night! the boys loved riding the airplanes best, because there were "fighters" on them

and then we topped off friday night with fireworks! the boys really got into it!--they asked david the name of each firework, and counted down, shouting, "3, 2, 1, raining lightning!" so fun!

a few projects and experiments

project #2: texture painting! what happens if you paint with something other than a paintbrush?

experiment #1: pace is recently really into outer space, satellites, mars rovers, aliens, etc. so he picked out an "orbit" experiment. we turned pace into an orbiting weather satellite, and max and i were a weather station on earth. pace had to orbit the earth, and when he passed in front of our weather station, he had to send us the information he gathered. the next week for our experiment, we turned the solar panels pace was holding into real satellites. he's carefully decorated his satellite--writing his name, drawing doors and windows, adding an american flag today, etc. the boys also wanted me to take a picture of them doing their "guard march".
