with all david's shenanigans lately, he suggested my bff and i take a weekend off to relax and have some fun. so heather and i decided to go up to park city for a little 24 hour retreat...so much fun! we are definitely going to make this a tradition! we left friday evening, and after the boys got situated with the sitter, i gave everyone big hugs (they love claire so much, the don't even look at me when i'm walking out the door), and said, "i love you boys, have fun!" pace replied, in the same intonations i had used, "okay, mommy, have fun with my suitcase!" (i packed the mini suitcase the boys love paying with)
we first went to the old main street of park city to look at all the shops and have dinner...what the what?...i guess it's a little cooler in park city than orem...
dinner...divine! we ate at riverhorse, and had the most delicious beet and arugala salad, polenta fries, and i had a honey glazed bass while heather ate a filet with potatoes.
dinner took us all the way to 930, so we decided to head back to the hotel for facials and to put our feet up. the next morning we were trying to decide where to go running when we ran into a bunch of girls dressed in hot pink at breakfast. we learned the pink series race was happening that morning, and decided we just had to join them! there's a half marathon and a 5k, and heather and i run 3 miles 3 days a week (and then do kickboxing afterwards!), and 5 on saturdays, so we decided it would be no sweat to join in on the 5k. we got there too late to register, but the race people said we were more than welcome to go ahead and run the course (and they very generously allowed us to pay $40 after the race to buy the shirt...ha ha). we started running probably 3-4 minutes after the 5k group started, and we kicked it into high gear to get moving! as it was, the walkers were all at the end of the group, so we felt like superstars passing everyone until we reached the runners...we normally run with strollers, and 3miles takes us 45+minutes, so we decided to push ourselves and we finished at 29.59! seriously! we were pumped we hit our goal of running 10-minute miles (not every one can be a super cool fast 50k runner, david...)
after a full day of shopping, we ended our 24-hour runaway with a pedicure. who knew they gave foot massages, too?! sooooo nice...i think i was seriously about to fall asleep when heather took this photo...
at home...i had gotten a couple of fun activities/movies for the boys to do with the babysitter friday night before david got home from work, and saturday while i was away. saturday morning was supposed to be another cool building project at lowe's, but when i got online to register the boys, the store was totally full! david didn't want to deal with waiting in line with two active boys to see if there were any extra kits after all the online registered people got their kits, so pace and i found a cool catapult truck building kit at hobby lobby. between that and fun breakfast treats, then fun with daddy at the mall, naps, cleaning the house for another showing, and dinner with daddy at kneader's (aka, the treat store), the boys had a full day!
as fun as it was, we were all happy to be together again, and the boys had me laying on their floor next to their beds saturday night until they fell asleep! (max also knows i'll sometimes lay right next to him in bed if he asks, and he'll grab a stuffed animal, lay it on his pillow--i'm assuming he's seen me do that--, then point at it and say, "mommy, right der". who can say no to that?!)
