on tuesdays when i am busy with relief society duties, david and the boys have a boys night...dirt-digging, tower-building, sometimes pizza-eating, and always ending it with a movie night. a couple of weeks ago david introduced the boys to the wizard of oz. ever since, both pace and max have been tornado-struck. last week at the library we took out nearly every tornado book and got all the national geographic natural disaster/stormchaser videos. play time is all about fighting the tornados. if it's at all cloudy outside, or slightly breezy, the boys sound the alarms. we are well-versed in tornado safety drills--pace will tell you if a tornado comes, we need to dig a hole in the ground to be safe. or just go in the crawl space under the house.
it starts with pace yelling, "tor-mado! tor-mado! hide!" max then echoes the alarm with, "eh-yoh! eh-yoh! hoouwse! nown!" and then flails his arms down and makes a crashing noise. according to pace, some tornados are silly, and some grow really big, some knock our house down, and some spin our house around and around and land us in oz.
here are the boys, checking for tornados...sound the alarm!
pace runs to get his "fighter"...
phew! that was close!

That's not a fighter. That's a howitzer!

Like Reagan said, "Peace through superior firepower."
