how do the coombs' celebrate pi day? we drove down to spanish fork to check out the progress--we have foundation walls and a framed-in basement!!
this is the top of the floating garage,
and this is under the floating garage--(much) future workout/theatre room!
backside of the house/basement
inside view of basement, sectioned out for an extra bedroom, theatre room, bathroom, art studio, and bishka's apartment!
we've been wondering where we are going to run once we move, because although there's a great park down the hill from our house, we haven't been able to find any trails. we finally found one that runs along the spanish fork river trail! it'll be similar to the provo canyon trail, we think...once it's finished...we'll have to call the city and find out the timeline...we have to cross a pretty busy intersection, and although there are construction signs, there is no crosswalk, and we don't know how long this project has been "under construction". once you cross the road (this is actually the very same intersection as the national baby lily rescue--and if this video won't make you cry, i don't know what will), there's a really great paved trail that we thought went on for 14 miles or so, across the valley, but we unexpectedly came upon a probably 1.5-2 mile unpaved section. the boys loved off-roading it, but were very impatient to get back to the park and play for real! thanks to david's gps watch, we stopped at the 3.14 mile mark and snapped a photo, then kept on going to finish the requisite 9 miles for my training!--feeling great! i probably could have done 10!--this half is going to be no sweat!
then we had an amazing brazilian feast--saudades for rice and beans! (i actually made this friday night for dinner, but rice and beans go a long way!...not so much with the pão de queijo--those were gone in seconds!)
oh--also an update on our march madness...max spiked a 103 fever and pneumonia-like cough on friday, and walked around all day saying, "mama, i sick". and guess what i did? the er doctor actually way over-prescribed the antibiotic for pace. as in, the pharmacy dispensed two bottles on antibiotic instead of one. so...bottle #2 is going to max--i'm just cutting the dose in half and giving it longer. we are nipping this thing in the bud--i gave him his first dose on friday afternoon, and saturday when he woke up, his fever was only 99.5, and he was still coughing, but he slept all. night. long. now all we need is some sort of community antibiotic dispenser, not unlike a redbox movie dispenser--just type in your child's weight, symptoms, and insurance information, and voila! it'll spit out just what you need to get your child better! ok, this might actually promote antibiotic-resistant super-bugs due to overuse...but at least we'll all be sleeping better at night...

You're just missing farofa and mandioca frita to go with that cove and feijao! Did you have the vinegary salad of thinly sliced tomato, cucumber and onion? I always like to make that too because I like it to mix with the rice!
oh man, mandioca frita!! you are so right!! and the insalata!! ok, brazilian feast #2 underway!
